My Easter Hat Memories

3/28/2018

This Sunday April 1, 2018 is Easter. And April 1st is also known as April Fool's Day.  The last time Easter fell on April 1 was in 1956, and it won't happen again until 2029, next in 2040, and then not again for the rest of this century.
For Christians all over the world, no matter what day Easter falls on, it is a very special religious holiday to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.  The upcoming day brings back fond memories of Easter with my family.
In thinking about plans for Easter, I called my Sister this morning to find out if she had one of my favorite picture of us as children sitting on the couch in our homestead, prior to going to Easter Sunday services.  Sure enough, within a few minutes, she sent the black and white photo of the four of us kids and a text message with the words "Easter 1966." It made me smile and I was amazed at how well I still remembered that day over 50 years ago.

I remember we always got so dressed up for Easter, and you had to have a fancy Easter hat, right?  And if you were really lucky, you might even get a brand new dress that matched the one your big Sister was wearing. And shiny patent leather white buckle shoes were a must have item to complete the outfit. This picture with my siblings makes me think about how much times have changed.  Life was so simple and peaceful compared to today's world.
For today, keep the hope and faith--and I am sharing this Prayer for Easter, as it is one I think we can all appreciate, no matter what our beliefs.

Have a Wonderful Easter!

Say No Thank You to the Straw

3/22/2018

Today's blog is my little part in the recycling efforts for our planet Earth that I am passing on to you. Listen up my friends, family and followers! This is a very important message, and one everyone should care to learn.  If not for the planet Earth, then do it as an anti-aging effort for yourself. Here it is: Just say No to drinking through a straw!!
Why?  Plastic straws are not readily biodegradable.  A plastic straw will sit for years in a landfill.
But guess what else happens when you suck through a straw?  You are causing a very persistent and purposeful puckering of your lips.  By doing so, you are creating wrinkle lines to the upper lip and that action causes break down of the collagen and elastin in the dermis of the skin of the upper lip.  These proteins of collagen and elastin allow our skin to resume shape after stretching and contracting.  Ever wonder why smokers look more aged than non-smokers?  Think about it, they are doing that puckering action over and over again when they inhale.
And speaking of lines of the upper lip, I have a way to help eliminate those aging changes.  One of our long time products is the essential-product-rodan-fields-lip-shield which will moisturize and protect the lips.  Do you want luscious-lips-for-life? Look no further.  Our age-defying REDEFINE Lip Renewing Serum is now even better and cooler than ever!  I am thrilled to announce a new and improved formula for an enhanced Customer experience.
This popular product features new moisturizing ingredients, including Shea butter, to complement the Vitamin E and peptides in the formula to target the appearance of lip lines and wrinkles. Customers will enjoy the richer, velvety smooth formula and the instant cooling and soothing sensation of the ingredients at work.  Corporate has even perfected the capsules so they're easy to open!  The capsules are also biodegradable-I love R + F !

Here is to Good Health and Much Happiness (and great skin & lips, too),

It's My Third Year Rodanniversary!

3/15/2018

I am excited to share it is my third year Rodanniversary today!
I still remember the day very well that I signed up to become a "personal use Consultant" for $45.  Yes, you read that correctly. You can become a Consultant for forty five dollars and get your products for 25% off.  I had been trying the products at retail cost and I was really loving the results.
It was March 15, 2015.  Being a Family Practice Doctor, a young lady I was an acquaintance with randomly asked me if I had ever heard about Rodan and Fields skin care, because she was thinking of purchasing some products.
I told her yes I had, and I had nothing but good to say about the products or the company, and that I had been trying the products with good results.  We proceeded to get into a long conversation about our skin.
That day I went to my desk, called my girlfriend who is my Sponsor, and became a Consultant for $45.
Within two weeks of becoming a personal use consultant, there were so many products I wanted to order that I decided to get a "Big Business Launch(BBL)" Kit for $695.  Thankfully, there is a 30 day grace period to upgrade. So, I got quite a deal by purchasing the BBL kit because it is the one time you get 50% off all products.  Plus, it is a tax write off!
Boom! I was and remain in business.
Fast Forward to today. I have learned a lot, and I really enjoy my side gig biz!
It is such a fun biz with many side benefits, including great improvements in your skin!
I love the empowerment and camaraderie that we share within our Teams....Team Younger You AND Team Bio!
I would like to say Thank You to my family, friends, loyal customers and followers for your support and for following along on my journey.....of changing skin and changing lives---one face at a time.

Here's to Good Health and Much Happiness,
Your Friend, Dr. Younger You:)

A Story of Patience

3/1/2018

They say that patience is a virtue.  My story for the day is one in which I was continuously tested on my patience, as well as others I interacted with or spoke to were also tested.   I must say, I found myself and many others being very patient today.  And that is a positive story I am sharing.
At work, the day was filled with dilemmas and situations that were occurring simultaneously--requiring trouble shooting and cooperation of co-workers---and when I thought I would meet resistance or frustration, instead solutions were found.
When the one hour conference call ran over into lunchtime, it was no big deal---everyone on the line was patient and we ended the meeting with a few laughs in the spirit of cooperation.  It was great.
When one of my colleagues was frustrated,  I went into rescue mode and said:  "Take a deep breath, it's okay."  And she did and it helped her.  We went on to resolve an issue together.  It involved a phone call.  The lady on the other end of the phone was very patient and kind, even when I got the email address wrong and she had to repeat it 3 times.   At the end of the phone call, I told my colleague that "Everything happens for a reason and it is okay.  It will work itself out and I am here to help you".  And she believes that all things happen for a reason.
My anticipated early day out of the office at 2 PM didn't happen, but it was okay.
My plans to get a pedicure with my a friend was postponed until another time-but that was okay.  I decided to go anyway.
I ended up at the nail salon after work.  I signed in and waited about 30 minutes, noticing there were quite a few people on the wait list.  I could have gotten frustrated and postponed my pedicure for another day, but I was really looking forward to it.  While I was waiting, I counted 15 customers and a dog (yes, a little cuddle dog) in the shop.  There was one young boy, and he patiently played a video game for those 2 hours while his Mom got her nails done.  I continued to patiently await my turn.  I took notice to the 3 Vietnamese employees and how they each patiently and methodically  kept doing their work, never appearing frustrated nor stressed.   It took 2 hours before my my toes finally were immersed in the tub.   I enjoyed every minute of service, and my young nail specialist was still working as hard as ever.  I was very thankful for the good job she did.
I decided to go to Walmart and pick up 2 items.  I got into a line with one person in the line and he was in a motorized shopping cart and had the front basket full.  I thought, "This will go quickly".  Nope. Almost every item was produce that the cashier had to look up and weigh it for the unit price.  I had a very brief feeling of impatience, but I quickly over came it, and waited my turn. We chit chatted, and the cashier was pleased we both pronounced her name correctly.
As I pulled out of Walmart parking lot, I came up behind a car who was sitting at the stop sign not moving.  I thought, "Ok God....are you still testing my patience?"  He was.  And I sat behind the car for about a minute, until the driver decided it was time to go.  It was no biggie, no frustration, I did not honk my horn--I actually laughed out loud.
So my lesson for today is to be patient and kind--- because you can.  Remember, you decide how you react to every situation. And as my Mother always says:  "Don't get your liver in a quiver!"

Your Friend Dr. Younger You :)
