Rodan+ Fields in the Financial World

9/29/2016

The purpose of today's blog is to let the readers know that Forbes Magazine, a very credible resource for business,  has featured several articles on the success of Rodan +Fields in the premium skin care market.  In June of 2016, the Doctors are featured and the magazine tells the story of how the two Stanford trained Dermatologists built a Billion dollar skin care brand in their spare time.  I invite you to google the topic & read the full article on their amazing story.
Other Forbes articles have featured the Rodan + Fields Corporation and business model with the following snippets:
  • "Rodan + Fields is increasingly rising to become one of the most well respected  skincare companies in the world."
  • "With the US becoming increasingly dominated by Rodan + Fields, other countries may not be far behind. Rodan + Fields launched in Canada February 2015, and Australia is scheduled to launch in Fall 2016.  What may be lacking, however, is the people that still have yet to recognize that selling via direct marketing sales avenue-sometimes referred to as a multi-tier marketing business-is not what it used to be, and it's definitely not something to ignore.  Community commerce is a growing trend in retail that the Rodan+ Fields may be leading, but others are certainly trying to follow."
I am certainly glad that I am a Rodan + Fields Consultant! I Love R+F products and the business opportunity!

ROSACEA Treatments

9/22/2016

Hello from Dr. Younger You on this beautiful Fall day.  Today's blog is an article on a rather commonly seen condition called Rosacea,  At the end of the basic education, I will feature Soothe regimen by Rodan + Fields, and explain how it works to control rosacea.
What is rosacea? — Rosacea is a skin condition that causes redness and raised, red bumps on the cheeks, nose, chin, forehead, or eyelids. Rosacea is a long-term condition that will get worse over time if it is not treated.
Rosacea happens most often in adults ages 30 to 60.
What are the symptoms of rosacea? — Rosacea affects the cheeks, nose, chin, forehead, or eyelids. Symptoms include:
●Redness
●Blushing easily
●Raised, red bumps with or without pus in them. Bumps from rosacea can sometimes look like acne, but they aren't acne.
●Tiny, swollen blood vessels on the skin (called "telangiectasias")
●A burning or gritty feeling in the eyes
●A red, swollen, and rounded nose
Sometimes, people's symptoms are under control. Other times, people's symptoms worsen and flare up. Flare-ups are usually caused by "triggers," which are things that make symptoms worse. Common triggers include:
●Eating hot or spicy foods, or drinking hot drinks
●Drinking alcohol
●Being too hot or cold
●Sunlight
●Stress and other strong emotions
Is there a test for rosacea? — No. There is no test. But your doctor or nurse should be able to tell if you have it by learning about your symptoms and doing an exam.
How is rosacea treated? — Treatment for rosacea has 2 parts. The treatments do not cure rosacea, but they help control symptoms and prevent flare-ups.
Treatment involves both:
●Medicines – Doctors can use different medicines to treat rosacea. The medicines can come as gels, creams, or lotions that go on your skin, or as pills that you swallow. You will likely need to take or use medicines for a long time.
●Lifestyle changes – To help control your symptoms and prevent flare-ups, you should:
•Avoid the common triggers listed above and any other triggers that you know worsen your symptoms
•Use mild, unscented face cleansers to wash your face
•Wear sunscreen every day
•Avoid using products on your face with alcohol, acid, or other ingredients that could bother your skin
What if my symptoms are severe or don't get better? — If your symptoms are severe or don't get better with treatment, you will probably need to see a skin specialist (called a dermatologist). The specialist will talk with you about other possible treatments.
What if I want to get pregnant? — If you want to get pregnant, talk with your doctor or nurse. Some medicines for rosacea are not safe to take during pregnancy. Your doctor or nurse will make sure that your medicine is safe to take.

Editorial:  Rodan + Fields Stanford trained dermatologists formulated Soothe Regimen for anyone exhibiting sensitive, red skin.  It can be used on the Rosacea condition and it is extremely effective. See my blog of 11/24/15 Peptides in Rodan + Fields Soothe Step #2 to understand peptide action.  Soothe Regimen is clinically proven to visibly decrease redness.  It works by replacing the lipid layer of the skin as the schematic below shows.

Droopy Eye Lids

9/15/2016

I often say: "The old-aging process is not kind." One of the effects of aging is that body parts get saggy, including the upper eyelids. People describe their upper lids as droopy, hooded and tired appearing.  The lower lids can appear bulging with fatty deposits and permanent puffiness.
What are the ways to battle droopy, puffy, tired eyes?  One way is via surgery, usually done by a plastic surgeon or an ophthalmologist.  The procedure is called a blepharoplasty.  In this procedure, the surgeon removes excess skin and fat from the upper and lower lids.  The surgery lasts no more than an hour, and usually you can be back to work within a week.  This is considered a cosmetic surgery, although if the upper lid becomes excessively saggy, to the point where vision is impaired,
the procedure becomes a necessity.
You may ask what else can I do to prevent the droopy eyelids, crow's feet and what can I do to prevent surgery?  A few lifestyle ideas are to avoid sleep deprivation, pollution, the sun's rays with good sunglasses and use sunscreen regularly.
I also recommend twice daily use of Rodan + Fields Multi-function Eye Cream.  This cream is a best seller and reduces the appearance of crow's feet, dark circles and puffiness and noticably brightens your eye area.  I also recommend once daily use of  Rodan + Fields' derm roller called Amp MD. The microneedles of the roller can be used very lightly over the brow areas to stimulate collagen and elastin, which thereby reduces skin sag over the eye.  Finally, Redefine Eye Cloths gently remove make-up and deposits anti-aging peptides to help reduce fine line
s and puffiness in one easy step.

Message me with any questions on droopy eyelids and for more information on the products.  View or purchase the products, http://DrYoungerYou.myrandf.com

Good Bye Summer & Good Bye Sun Damage

9/8/2016

I hope you all had a wonderful Labor Day Weekend.   In   northwestern PA, it was absolutely gorgeous.  Now that the sunny days are dwindling down, it is time to learn about sun damage and how to reverse it on your face and how to get rid of brown sun spots and patches.
The official classifcation of damage caused by the sun is referred to as epidermal pigmented lesions, which describes various skin changes in which there are increased melanin in the epidermis of the skin.
One specific lesion is called a lentigines. Solar
Lentigines are small, well-circumscribed, pigmented macules that are characterized by melanocyte proliferation in the basal layer of the epidermis.   In layman's terms,  these are often referred to as aging spots or liver spots.
Do you know the medical term for freckles?  Ephelides is the answer. Anyone with freckles will tell you the sun will indeed make freckles come out. Freckles are small, light brown macules that develop in areas of sun-exposed skin. Histopathologically, these lesions demonstrate increased epidermal melanin. The number of melanocytes is normal.
Another common condition made worse by the sun is melasma. Melasma is a common, acquired disorder that usually presents with symmetric hyperpigmented patches on the face
.

All of the above mentioned lesions (solar lentigines, freckles, melasma) can be treated with various types of lasers or IPL(intense pulsed light) devices.   Laser treatments can clear such a condition of solar lentigines in two to three treatments, with rare reoccurrence. However, partially resolved solar lentigines may darken with subsequent exposure to UV sunlight, and new ones can develop in the area of damaged skin..  Also, post laser treatment hyperpigmentation (darkening) of the treated skin can occur.
Specifically, for laser treatment of melasma, multiple laser modalities have been studied and used for melasma, but treatment results are highly variable and recurrence after treatment is common. Worsening of hyperpigmentation or mottled hypopigmentation may also occur as a result of laser therapy.

In the laser school I attended, I learned that laser treatment really should be avoided if the individual getting treatments plans to continue sun exposure into the Fall and Winter.  In fact, one laser instructor taught me that her mentor dermatologist (that she had worked with for years) did not even bother doing laser for sun damage in the summer months, as the laser results would be easily reversed or even look darker if the patient got in the sun.
With laser treatments, there is some down time after the treatment, meaning you cannot go out in the sun for several weeks.  And laser treatments are usually done every 4 weeks, so multiple trips to the Doctor should be anticipated.  The cost of laser can be quite expensive.  Laser equipment technology is a quickly evolving field, and last year's laser model can be obsolete before you know it.  The operator must be adequately trained and the laser machines must be adequately maintained for the safety of the patient.
Due to all of these reasons and complexity of laser treatments, I chose not to pursue a laser med spa business, and instead I use, endorse and sell Rodan and Fields Premium skin care products. Drs. Rodan and Fields have 2 main products to reverse sun damage.  One regimen is called REVERSE and the other is REVERSE Accelerator pack.
Reverse Regimen is an effective full face solution that tackles the dullness, uneven skin tone, brown spots and other cumulative telltale signs associated with sun exposure.  It combines cosmetic and active ingredients to exfoliate dulling dead skin, address the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and protect against further UV damage providing a long term solution for a radiant complexion.  The regimen contains an exfoliating wash, an intensive brightening toner as step 2, a dual active brightening complex as step 3, and broad spectrum SPF 50+sunscreen as step 4.  This regimen can be used with the Amp MD Roller to greatly improve your results.  Ninety-two percent of participants in third party  studies (meaning studies performed by independent dermatologists) achieved improved brightness and smoother texture in 8 weeks of consistent use of the Reverse regimen. Although my main regimen is Redefine, I use Step 3 of the Reverse regimen, which is a combo of Retinol and Vitamin C, to brighten my skin.
The second product by Rodan + Fields is the Reverse Accelerator pack. It was formulated by the Doctors to use for fading especially dark marks and patches, including melasma. It features the tried and true over the counter medicine, hydroquinone in the toner as step 2 followed by step 3 skin lightening treatment.  It was designed  to jumpstart the restoration of your bright, even toned complexion. It is recommended to be used for ONE 60-day treatment cycle, along with Reverse wash step 1 and Reverse sunscreen step 4.  It should not be used with Amp MD Roller, and again the Reverse Accelerator pack is not for extended use.

Please Message me with questions about sun damage or on how to order from me to get started on these clinically tested and proven products.
