Put on your imaginary goggles, some soft lights and soothing music and pour yourself a glass of champagne. Because that is how my experience began. My girlfriends and I each had a glass of bubbly champagne and we were escorted back to the locker room.
We each got a big, soft white cotton bathrobe and spa sandals--and our spa attendant delivered us to our first stop of hydrotherapy--the sauna room. We each got to lay on a crisp white cotton towel on the sauna bench as the hot dry air filled the room. Much to my surprise, our spa staff returned immediately and gently placed iced cucumber slices over both of my eyes, along with a cool damp wash cloth over my forehead. I was feeling heavenly. For 10 minutes, I soaked up the heat of the room and breathed slowly, appreciating every second.
After leaving the sauna, we were sprayed with cool Eucalyptus water to cool our body temperature slowly. It smelled wonderful.
Next, we were lead to the "ice room." There we applied aloe vera to our skin and then cooled our body temperature more with a ice cubes from the giant ice sink. It was truly divine.
We were not done yet. Our next stop was to prepare for the hot steam room. Prior to going in there, we were provided moisturizer for our face and hair. And we then stepped into a darkened hot steam room with changing colored lights on the ceiling. It was hot, and I could feel my body sweating profusely and detoxifying. It was a relaxing, and I was feeling limp.
It was time to go to the next step of the hydrotherapy. We went into our individual shower rooms and the tri-level shower heads started out spraying me in the knees with lukewarm to warm to hot and an increasingly more powerful surge of water. The same experience occurred at the waist level and finally to the upper body, then finished off with a rain forest shower over my head. I was thinking this is too good to be true.
We were greeted with a fresh towel and our big white cotton bathrobes.
We were next led to the warming lounge. We sat in big ceramic stone heated recliners on warm towels. And wait....the cool cucumbers went back over both eyes, along with the wash cloth of my forehead. I could have fallen asleep there in that dim candle lit room. But it was time for the next step.
Our spa attendant served us fresh mango water in the big pool room. The pool room is lit in beautiful blue lights, with alternating soft orange light accents that put one in a trance. Inside the warm pool were giant spigots that you could stand under and lounge chairs submerged with whirlpool jets to massage you as you rested.
I am telling you, that was one of the most relaxing spa experiences of my life. And to top it off, I experienced it with two of my best friends! I must admit I prayed many thanks to my creator for allowing me to experience a little heaven on earth during that spa day. Thanks for letting me share my wonderful experience with you!
