Again, my kiddo has access to all the sunscreen he could ever need. It is everywhere. I keep a bottle of sunscreen near the back door and frequently remind my "Ginger" to "Don't forget to put on your Sunscreen!" Sound familiar Moms?
Well, this big lineman went to a football "Big Man Bash" and competed all day in the blazing sun. I am one of the parents who always brings sunscreen and makes him put it on, despite his grumbles and apparent embarrassment I cause him with this intervention. Sound familiar Moms?
Unfortunately, I was on call so was not able to go. I texted him to see how he was doing and reminded him to put sunscreen on. No reply. Sound familiar Moms?
After my 24 hour shift, I arrived home to a very sunburned kid. His face, lips and neck were scalded. He was feeling sick all over. I had him use Rodan+ Fields Soothe #2 and he went to bed. He would not allow a picture, but he states it did really help with the pain and redness. He did not blister, and he put some on again this afternoon as the sunburned skin heals. I have included a picture of him in competition.
The moral of this story to all sports competitors (and fans), please listen to your Mothers. Please use sunscreen and cover up,and seek shade out of the sun as much as possible. The June 24 blog gives more detailed information of all the risks and treatment if you want to read it out loud to your Big Kids as a bedtime story tonight!
Here's to good health & much happiness,
