I spent many hours going through all his school pictures and albums, picking out the ones that capture him and his hobbies. There were too many to choose. I picked the funniest, the cutest, the most handsome pictures I could find. And they represent him well. During my search, I smiled, and I laughed a lot. I remembered places and times that I had forgotten about until the pictures jarred my memory. And I thought.....oh, how quickly he grew---but we sure had some great times along the way.
I decided that I would put his baby pictures and school pictures in chronological order on the left side of the board, starting with the very top picture of him in utero--his ultrasound picture. I then went year by year and put the wallet size photo in the right order, capturing the transformation from infancy to an adorable little boy, then to a chubby middle schooler and finally to the handsome young man I celebrate today. No matter what age, he always has the best smile, and he is a freckled faced redhead.
The middle of the board features him in his Senior year, in his football uniform, 4 wheeling, shooting his rifle, fishing, hunting and doing the things he loves most. Underneath his senior pics are pictures of us, his family. We are his base and we will always be there for him. And I thought.....oh, how quickly he grew---but we sure had some great family love along the way.
The right side of the board are his best friends he has made many memories with thus far on his earth journey. Many of the friends are like Brothers. And I thought....oh, how quickly he grew--but he sure has made some special life long friends along the way.
Underneath all of the pictures are his faith journey pictures--his first communion and confirmation pictures. And I thought....oh, how quickly he grew--but Jesus is his Savior, and He will always be there for him along the way. I included this prayer on his board:
Prayer for Parents for Their Children
Divine Child Jesus, King of all Nations and Families,
You have made us fathers and mothers and blessed us
with Your children. Help us to be prayerful parents and
good examples to them. Infant Jesus, strengthen their wills,
inspire their minds, fill their memories, cleanse their wishes
and desires, bless and guide them and us until we are all in
heaven with You.
Jesus, I trust in You.
At the end of this night, I retire to bed, with a proud and happy heart, I look forward to the graduation ceremony, and the celebration with family and friends at our open house. I look forward to the next journey My Son, the Graduate will experience. Fly, Son, fly. I love you so much!
